Institute Wohnen und Umwelt
Institute Wohnen und Umwelt (IWU) is a research institution founded by the State of Hessen and the City of Darmstadt.
The task of the institute is to research present and future forms of housing and living conditions.
One of the main targets is the investigation of the possibilities of minimised, efficient and environmentally and socially acceptable energy use.
At the moment, the institute employs about 35 permanent staff. Of these, half are scientists, coming from a broad range of disciplines.
Basic research projects and commissioned application-oriented work on different levels is carried out by interdisciplinary project groups.
